Gardening Series #1- Cold Frames & Seed Starting
Leader: Ron Aakjar
Age: Adults
Fee: $5 adults, $3 children, $3/$1.50 Audubon Members
Ron will be presenting a series of 4 gardening programs. Sign up for one, two or all! This first program in the series will cover different types of cold frames, cloches, row covers and hot beds. Learn how to get a jump start on the growing season, where permanent cold frames should be located, what separates cold frames from cloches, row covers and hot beds, and how to most effectively use cold frames. There will be examples on display of different types of season extending devices and we will be making some of our own simple homemade cloches. The second half of the program will cover seed starting and the conditions that are best for starting seeds indoors without the use of a greenhouse. There will be several types of seeds to choose from and we will be planting up seeds for each person to take home in their own seed starting kit. Snow Date: March 8. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Please call the Center to sign up.

Dawn’s Bunny Bulbs
Leader: Dawn Osborne
Age: Adults

Back in December, Dawn showed us how to make whimsical snowman ornaments out of used light bulbs. This time, we will recycle more light bulbs by turning them into adorable bunnies, just in time for Easter. Again, we will be painting the bulbs with acrylic paints, using a sponge and brushes, so prepare to get paint on your hands! This is a fun, easy project, even if you’ve never painted before! Materials will be provided. Pre-registration is required. Limit 10 people.
